Young people aged 12-25 in the greater Bendigo region are invited to participate in a youth mental health forum on Tuesday 18th September and have their say on how we can better support young people when their life sucks.
Almost one in four young people in regional and remote Australia had a probable serious mental illness according to Mission Australia’s Youth Survey 2016.
Mission Australia’s CEO James Toomey said: “Mental health concerns know no geographical or cultural boundaries; however, the provision of services does. Our research shows that young people in regional and remote communities struggle to access the same level of support services as young people in urban areas”.
This forum will look to engage attendees in helping to develop up local solutions that have the potential to be rolled out over the next two years to better support young people in our community when their life sucks.
An initiative of the Loddon Campaspe Regional Area Partnership, this Bendigo forum is one of six forums the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) are facilitating across the region this September and October.
