The ‘Real to Reel’ program aims to engage young people through the medium of Hip Hop music. ‘Real to Real’ has been designed to provide an opportunity for marginalised youth and Aboriginal youth to participate in the arts and to use the arts as a medium of self-expression and enhancing emotional well-being. The program helps build confidence, self-esteem and a sense of hope. The aims of ‘Real to Reel’ are:
- For participants to experience success through participation in the arts and the production of their own music.
- To provide an opportunity for participants to express themselves and reflect on their life experiences through the medium of music.
- To enable participants to develop artistic and social skills and skills in the use of computers, sound mixing, and music production.
- To provide a springboard for participants to engage other educational and vocational training opportunities.
- To use an arts medium as a means of improving the emotional health and wellbeing of the participants.
Project activities includes:
- The writing of Hip Hop raps based on young people’s life experiences

- Introduction into the methods of producing hip hop music.
