FReeZA

Groovin’ the Moo by Kelly Robson

Entering the gates at 11am before anyone else could was a strange experience but a good one. Through Bendigo FreeZa we were able to volunteer in different areas around the event. Heading backstage was rather exciting, seeing all the artist’s dressing rooms.
The amount of people that packed the Showground’s was massive! People were still entering the venue at 4.30pm that afternoon. To have headlining acts like Vampire Weekend, Silver Chair, Tegan and Sara plus many more was defiantly an exciting thing for Bendigo.
There has been backlash about the long amounts of time people waited in line to get in, but apart from that issue there wasn’t anything bad that happened, the price of water was rather steep for $4 a bottle, something could be done about that.
A highlight of mine for the day would have finally being able to see Lisa Mitchell perform. I had missed her when she played awhile back at The Pub. And also GTM has been my first huge music festival I have been to so it was good fun, and I got to keep the purple volunteer shirt.
Hoping to volunteer next year through the festival to gain more experience.
