Chronicle

Chronicle brings the filming technique of Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield back on screen in a somewhat better quality. Though after seeing it I am a little unsure still what to think of it; some aspects of great filming amongst an open ending and no real answers.

The film follows the documentation of three friends who stumble across an unidentifiable object found in a hole, from here on out everything changes.

Andrew (Dane DeHaan), Cousin Matt (Alex Russell) and friend Steve (Michael B Jordan) all gain superpowers after making the discovery. Kept only in the backyard Andrew wants to take it further. Soon they are playing tricks on the public and doing things they didn’t think were possible.

With Andrews mum sick and abusive dad eating at the back of his mind, a darker side begins to come through; hurting people who picked on him and his own family. Matt is then unsure if his bond with Andrew is going to stop him from doing something regrettable. It’s only a matter of time before everything is spinning out of control.

Chronicle is now screening at the Bendigo Cinemas, check the website or local newspaper for session times.
