Interview with Dream On Dreamer at Push Over 2011
Where did the band name come from?
Michael: We were having a couple of practises and at the end of each practise we would leave like 10 minutes to decide on a band name. It was sorta hard trying to find one that 6 people would like; I’m not sure whether everyone still likes it or not though haha
Marcel: It’s just something that you remember and gets stuck in your head easily.
What bands have been influences to your style?
Michael: Thankfully, I don’t listen to lots of our sort of music; I have a lot of pop influence.
Marcel: I suppose mine has been a lot of hardcore, but not really electronic hardcore. We have just gotten all the members influences and put it all into one thing.
I’ve read you guys have plans for a full length album, how is that turning out for you so far?
Marcel: I’m still writing lyrics for the last couple of songs, but after that we’ll take it to the studio and should have about 10 songs or so, on the album.
You have come from all over the world, how did you all manage to come together for this band?
Marcel: It started off with me seeing Michael doing some acoustic stuff on Youtube. I just really liked his voice and thought he was really talented. So I went to see one of his live shows at the Arthouse to see if he was good live, because he sounded amazing on recorded tracks. So I just asked if he was keen on doing something heavy and it just started from there.
Which bands are you most looking forward to seeing at Push Over this year?
Michael: Break even, House (Vs. Hurricane) of course, Goldfields.
Marcel: Yeah Goldfields, they were really sick. They were really awesome just doing something completely different.
Have you guys got any plans for upcoming tours?
Michael: Ask our manager haha -points at Luke-
Marcel: Nah, nothing planned at this stage, we will most likely organise something after we release our new album.
What is your least favourite genre in music?
Michael: Elevator music!
Marcel: What’s elevator music?
Michael: How do you describe elevator music?!
Me: Isn’t it the stuff they use in crappy 80’s science videos?
Michael: Yeah, I think so!
Marcel: I don’t think I really have one; I tend to listen to a lot of different music.
What has been your highlight of the day so far?
Michael: Meeting you! haha –all laugh-
Marcel: Probably catching up with friends. Obviously as well, playing our set just before.
