Liam Finn - FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
Liam Finn’s second solo release is a short 35 minute album, comprised of 10 songs. Overall the album is quite minimalistic, with simple instrumentation and texture. There is a simple rhythm to tap your foot to and some songs such as ‘Reckless’ have quite a bouncy energy. The album is mostly nice and flowing, like track 7 ‘Little Words’ which has a really lilting and floating feeling, giving a sensitivity to the song. Liam’s instrumental work on the album is quite versatile, with the guitar ranging from a light acoustic fingerpicking style, to a slight punk sensibility electric guitar. Fomo is an album which anyone should be able to enjoy, as it is quite neutral, but with interesting melodies.
