Bendigo Community Health Services offers general counselling to help you find ways of working through, coping with or changing things that may be bothering you. Appointment services are free and confidential for people aged 12-25. Available at all sites; contact BCHS on 54 300 500 to speak with an intake worker.
Bendigo Community Health Brokerage for Projects provide brokerage money for schools to carry out innovative student focussed programs.
Bendigo Community Health Brokerage for individuals SFYS also allocates funding for individual support. This funding is only available once, per young person, for up to one term and is not for permanent ongoing support. Individual brokerage funding should only be used when:
- There is no other funding source
- There is a gap in service provision
- The referring agent has discussed the referral with the SFYS Coordinator
- The funding is a part of a coordinated plan to support the young person
Bendigo Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
Bendigo Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a government funded confidential service available to assist young people up to the age of 18 with their mental health issues.
The team consists of: family therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, speech pathologists and psychiatrists, all trained to treat children, adolescents and their families/carers.
We are also a training facility. Students are fully supervised during their time with us and there may be times when they are involved with your treatment or care.
CAMHS provides assessment, case management and treatment for children and young people and their families and carers who experience difficulties which are so severe that they impact on their mood and behaviour and may disrupt their social, family and school relationships.

Family Relationships Online provides all families (whether together or separated) with access to information about family relationship issues, ranging from building better relationships to dispute resolution. It also allows families to find out about a range of services that can assist them to manage relationship issues, including agreeing on appropriate arrangements for children after parents separate
Better Outcomes for Mental Health initiative will provide patients with better access to psychiatrists, psychologists, GPs and other allied mental health workers by introducing a range of new Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items. Your local GP can provide you with more details on accessing this service.
The YCT is an early intervention program that has four service components: Reconnect, Family Mediation, 15 -16 year old Response Service and Finding Solutions. The YCT team works intensively with young people and their families to assist them at a time when youth homelessness and family disconnection may otherwise be the result.
- Reconnect is a federally funded program directed at addressing youth homelessness and family breakdown. The St Luke's Reconnect is an early intervention program that works with young people aged between 12 and 15 years who at risk of leaving school and experiencing family difficulties. The service also provides third party assessments for Centrelink when a young person is applying for the unreasonable to live at home allowance.
- Family Mediation is a conflict resolution and reconciliation program offered to young people and their families within the City of Greater Bendigo. It aims to provide a process for resolving conflicts and making agreements about issues which concern both the young person and their family.
- 15-16 year old Early Intervention Service - works with young people and their families from the Bendigo area with a focus on family reconciliation and reconnection. The target group is 15 and 16 year old, first time home leavers and their families who require support in working through family conflict/reconnection issues. Family mediation and conflict resolution are available as part of this support.
- Finding Solutions is a service directed at reducing the number of young people coming into Out of Home Care. It will have a particular focus on working with young people aged 13 to 15 years and their families where there is a serious risk of the young person being placed out of home. Referrals to the program are through DHS Protective Team.
Multicultural Mental Health Australia (MMHA) provides national leadership in building greater awareness of mental health and suicide prevention amongst Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Through unique partnerships with Australian mental health specialists, services, advocacy groups and tertiary institutions, MMHA actively promotes the mental health and wellbeing of Australia's diverse communities through a series of campaigns, projects and information fact sheets. MMHA also produces a series of resources and training for specialist and mainstream mental health professionals.
MMHA maintains strong connections with CALD consumers/carers through focus groups and by disseminating information on multicultural mental health, support services, stigma reduction and suicide prevention. Multicultural Mental Health Australia is funded under the National Mental Health Strategy and National Suicide Prevention Strategy by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
