From the producers of 300 comes another action packed fantasy revolving around Greek Mythology. Immortals takes on the beliefs of the Gods, and the fight to save humanity.

Theseus (Henry Cavill) a peasant mortal, is chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) to lead the fight against the disgustingly power hungry King Hyperion, played by Mickey Rourke.

King Hyperion is in search for the Epirus Bow which has unbelievable power, and only the one in possession of the bow can unleash the Titans. The Titans have been imprisoned within Mount Tartaros and if released would rain terror on all of Greece and humanity.

Much like 300, Immortals has the slow action fights; lots of blood spillage and the absurd costuming the bad guys always seem to wear.

Australian actress Isobel Lucas plays an amazing Athena especially in the last few scenes where she fights alongside her father. Also seen playing a God is The Twilight Saga’s Kellan Lutz who plays Poseidon.

Though I wouldn’t compare this to 300, I went in expecting some of the same, though it didn’t have Zack Snyder’s touch it still was an interesting film.

Immortals in 2D and 3D is now showing at the Bendigo Cinemas, check the website or newspaper for screening times.
