A Review of the Stage Show by Ryan Grant

Stuntman is a fan made stage show of the awkwardly hilarious film Hot Rod (Starring Andy Samberg, Isla Fisher etc). The show was performed on the 24th and 25th of September at The Capital Theatre and starred a cast entirely of youthful locals from Bendigo including the person behind the whole show, Christopher Martin, who performed as main character, Brad the stuntman. Its low budget charm added even more humour to the whole show which made it highly amusing for all audience members even if you weren’t already familiar with the original movie.

All profits made from ticket sales went towards the Blueball Foundation which raises money and awareness for testicular cancer, the main plot of the stage show was also about a young stuntman raising money to treat his step father’s testicular cancer so he can then fight him and earn his respect. As if the whole plot doesn’t sound ridiculous enough already the supporting cast were a bunch of eccentrically comical young people who helped propel the story along but at times also made things very difficult for Brad the stuntman.

Overall considering the budget for the show it was a complete success and I’d definitely give it an A for effort. For those who missed the show it will soon be uploaded onto youtube which you surely won’t want to miss, also keep an eye out to see any future shows Christopher Martin and his friends have to come.
