Child Safety 

YO Bendigo is a child-safe organisation and committed to ensuring that all our programs, events and activities are safe, welcoming and inclusive for young people under 18. 

• All our events, workshops and activities are supervised by a minimum of two staff or other trained responsible adult such as facilitator
• All staff are required to have a valid and current Working with Children’s Check.
• All staff are required to pass a Police Check.
• All facilitators and volunteers over 18 are required to have a Working with Children’s Check. 
• Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend events, workshops and activities.
• YO Bendigo is a smoke, vape, alcohol and drug-free organisation. All events, workshops and activities are smoke, vape, alcohol and drug free.
• All Staff undergo cultural awareness, cultural safety and diversity and inclusion training. 

All events involving children and young people are designed in partnership with the Child Safeguarding Senior Advisor to align with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.

Child Safe Policy

Supervision

All YO Bendigo programs and activities are fully supervised by trained staff. This means that while participating in our programs and activities, young people will be supervised however, our staff are unable to prevent young people from leaving voluntarily and cannot maintain duty of care once young people leave. Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend with their child at all programs and activities. All participants are expected to be picked up on time especially for after-hours programs and activities. 

Events Policies

Smoke/vape/drug/alcohol: All YO Bendigo events are strictly smoke/vape/drug/alcohol free. Any attendees who are affected by alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave. 

Pass outs: All YO Bendigo events have no pass outs. Once an attendee leaves the event venue, they will not be allowed back in. 

Fully Supervised: As with all YO Bendigo programs and activities, YO Bendigo events are fully supervised by trained staff and will be supervised while in the event venue. However, our staff are unable to prevent young people leaving voluntarily and they will not be allowed back in.
