Annika is 18 years old and moved to the Bendigo area five years ago. She lives in Heathcote and completed her high school studies at Bendigo Senior Secondary College. Following a passion for the arts, she received the Friends and Family Acquisition Award for her photography studies. For three years, she has been actively volunteering in the Bendigo FReeZa Committee, organising drug and alcohol free music events for youth in the community. This led to opportunities volunteering at the music festival Groovin The Moo for three years. She also volunteered at the La Trobe Art Institute for two years, aiding with the dismount and install of exhibitions within the space. Having a keen interest in both the visual and performing arts, she hopes to bring more opportunities with an arts focus to youth in the Bendigo Community.
Through involvement with Yo Bendigo, Annika has participated in multiple youth inclusion summits run by the Victorian State Government. These seminars gave key awareness to implement strategies within the community for diversity, inclusion and youth engagement that will be a strong focus for the Youth Council during our term.
Annika is looking forward to the committed work that the Youth Council will achieve and the progress that they will make representing youth within our community.
