Emily Pennington is entering her third year as a City of Greater Bendigo Youth Councillor in 2023. She is 17 years old and in Year 11 at Bendigo Senior Secondary College, where she is studying law, politics, and psychology. This is in hopes of working in her dream field, criminal law.
She has enjoyed leadership since she was little, sitting on multiple student leadership groups across her schooling, with her most recent position being College Vice Captain at Bendigo South East College in 2022.
Emily has gained experience and confidence over the last Youth Council term. She looks forward to applying her knowledge to her new positions, as the Youth Council’s Experience Working Group Chair, and a member of the Greater Bendigo team for the Victorian Youth Parliament.
Emily wants to make changes surrounding mental health and public safety, in hopes that Greater Bendigo can be a safe and inclusive place for all its young people.
