Youth Councillor Heather Bell

Heather Bell is a 16-year-old who has spent years bouncing back and forth between Hong Kong and Australia. Having experienced many times the feeling of being a newcomer and overcoming the barriers that come with it, she has learnt the value of creating a welcoming and inclusive community. This year – her first as a member of the City of Greater Bendigo Youth Council – she is eager to leap at any opportunity which comes her way, and hopes to advocate for Greater Bendigo to celebrate its wonderfully diverse community. 

Currently studying year 11 at Creek Street Christian College, and with a passion for language, Heather aspires to celebrate the community and cultures around her by studying and one day working in linguistics and language preservation. This interest in language has given her a great understanding of the importance of having a voice, and she hopes to be able to use her voice to uplift those of the youth of Greater Bendigo.
