Youth Councillor Lea Bursac

Lea Bursac is an 18-year-old first-time youth councillor and is committed to making a positive impact in her community. She recently completed her Year 12 studies at Bendigo Senior Secondary College and was one of just 15 students accepted into the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Medical) program at La Trobe University. This program guarantees her entry into the Doctor of Medicine at The University of Melbourne. Aside from her studies, Lea plays the piano, violin and viola and is a member of the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, where she contributes to a wide range of performances. 

She has earned her black belt in karate and assists in coaching the junior classes, helping younger students develop their skills and confidence. Lea is passionate about advocating for young people as well as for rural healthcare and hopes to apply this focus to her role as a youth councillor. She is dedicated to ensuring young people have a voice in decisions that affect them and is committed to improving opportunities in education, wellbeing and community involvement. Through the Youth Council, Lea hopes to contribute to initiatives that make a real difference for Greater Bendigo’s youth.
