Battle of the Bands Competition

 

YO Events invites bands from Greater Bendigo to submit an entry to perform at BendiGLOW Youthfest as part of the Battle of the Bands competition, a free and inclusive all-ages event aimed at supporting and showcasing the next generation of musical talent.

This is an opportunity for local bands to perform live on a professionally equipped stage in front of a large, regional, and supportive audience. 

Finalists selected through this online process will have the opportunity to compete for exciting prizes, including paid performances in front of huge live audiences at GigFest and on Phoenix FM's Easter Procession float, interviews on Live Music Bendigo's radio show and a spot for your song on Volume II of Support Local Music.

  • Entry Submission Deadline: Before 5 pm 10th August 
  • Finalist Announcement: 17th August 
  • Finalist Documents due: 30th August 
  • Battle of the Bands Competition Performance date: 19th of September

FIRST PRIZE
  • A position in the line up for Gigfest 2027 (courtesy of Live Music Bendigo)
  • A paid performance on Phoenix FM's Easter Procession float in the 2027 Easter parade
  • A feature in Live Music's Gig Guide tiles 
  • Live interview on Phoenix FM's Live Music Bendigo radio show 
  • Your song on Volume 2 of Support Local Music  
  • More to be announced!
 
SECOND PRIZE
  • Live interview on Phoenix FM's Live Music Bendigo radio show 
  • A paid performance at a local venue (courtesy of Live Music Bendigo) 
  • More to be announced!
     
THIRD PRIZE
  • Live interview on Phoenix FM's Live Music Bendigo radio show 
  • More to be announced!


ELIGIBILITY
To enter, your band must meet the following criteria:

  • Bands only – acts must have a minimum of two members to qualify. Solo performers are not eligible.
  • All band members must be aged between 12 and 25 years at the time of the event.
  • Acts must be able to perform live (no backing tracks or pre-recorded vocals/instrumentation).
  • All content must be appropriate for a youth audience (ages 12+).
     

RULES OF ENTRY 
All bands must meet the eligibility requirements and follow the Battle of the Bands rules around entry, performance and behaviour. You can find the full rules of entry here.
 

SELECTION PROCESS
After the closing date, all entries will be reviewed by the YO Events Team. Finalists for the BendiGLOW Battle of the Bands will be selected based on a variety of criteria, including musical ability, readiness to perform, ability to meet the eligibility criteria, and overall performance potential. 
Successful applicants will be notified in advance by the 14th of August and will be given further details about the event.
