Dived in, Chilled out: Fruit Punch 2024

Last Saturday, 16th November, we turned Gurri Wanyarra Wellness Centre into the ultimate hangout spot for over 70 people to chill, swim, and celebrate at Fruit Punch—a pool party and dive-in movie night for young trans and gender-diverse folks, their families, friends, and allies.

We enjoyed music videos and a screening of Shrek as well as out of pool activities including a photo booth, clothing swap area, chill zone and booths from our friends at headspace Bendigo, Thorne Harbour and Trans & Gender Diverse Bendigo & Beyond! Plus, we had some delicious fish and chips, fruit punch and snacks!

The night was all about good vibes, laughter, and having fun in a space where everyone could be themselves.

Here’s some feedback directly from people who attended:

"Watching a movie while being able to swim was a very fun and unique experience which I loved, the snacks, food/fish and chips were great. I thought being able to borrow goggles and having swimwear provided was great. It was a very inviting, peaceful, welcoming, and fun event. I would definitely attend again"

"I had an amazing time!! It definitely felt like a really supportive space."

People of all ages—ranging from 6 to 70—came together to make this event unforgettable. Whether you were splashing around in the pool, catching up with friends, or just enjoying the movie, Fruit Punch was the place to be.

Thanks to everyone who made this happen and to all who attended, and for those who couldn’t make it, we can’t wait to see you next year!
