DAY 1: MONDAY
I first arrived at the office at 10.00 AM on Monday morning, and shortly after getting acquainted with the team, I went with Chelsea and Leon to grab my Student Placement Laptop.
I then came back to the YO office for an induction and we went over some of my tasks for the week.
For most of Monday, I spent most of my time working on signage for the Winter Ball 2026.
After finishing the signage I was working on, I started writing up a rough draft for my blog post.
DAY 2: TUESDAY
On Tuesday morning I arrived half an hour later because of a doctor’s appointment and immediately kept working on the draft for my blog post. It didn’t take long and I finished it within 15 minutes, so I started writing it up digitally.
Very shortly after starting work on my polished, digitally formatted blog post, my work placement laptop decided that it was a good time to update... This update however would take the rest of the day to install, rendering me unable to work on my blog for the rest of the day :/
Luckily for me, Chelsea had a meeting at the Discovery Science & Technology Centre not long after I ran into computer troubles that I was invited to attend with her.
Once we got there, we got a tour of the current exhibition and got to see many fascinating creations featuring important figures and creations in recent history, as well as getting to visit the built-in planetarium. There was also massive LEGO exhibits. It was an incredible experience, and I enjoyed it very much.
We then went to a meeting with a worker at the Discovery Centre. I spent most of the meeting playing with a very cute dog named Loki in the office.
We then went back to the office at YO, and I spent my time bouncing between the YO Media and YO Events meetings until it was time for me to go home.
DAY 3: WEDNESDAY
I spent most of my third day at YO working on and eventually finishing my blog post.
I also spent some time freshening up my resume with Leon and then spending a short amount of time researching for the YO Bendigo newsletter and the Youth Performer Program.
In the morning, I attended a youth team meeting.
I also started working on this digital writing up of my blog about my time at YO before sitting in for a short rehearsal of a peer-to-peer recruitment speech for trainees.
DAY 4: THURSDAY
Not long after arriving at the office on Thursday, I sat down ready to work and opened my computer, only for my computer to stop working again!!!!!!!!
After this unfortunate mishap I was tasked with doing a few odd jobs, before going out to get a splendid fish and chip lunch with the team and then spending another hour doing a couple more odd jobs around the office.
I then got a working computer back from the IT crowd in Galkangu and barely managed to get it set up before going to a farewell event for a worker at Galkangu.
I didn’t spend much time at the event as I was taken back to the office to collect my things, so that I could spend a couple of hours helping watch over young people at a barista course, and got a coffee that looked so beautiful I felt bad drinking it.
DAY 5: FRIDAY
My last day at YO Bendigo was a nice relaxed one, I spent it getting my blog post published and finished this very post - you are ready now!
Overall, I had a lot of fun during my time at YO Bendigo and feel that I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to come here for my work experience. If any of you are reading this post with the interest of taking your work experience here, I urge you do it ASAP. It’s in high demand – as I personally think it should be.
