My Week at YO - Celeste

By Katie Mansfield, 15 May, 2026

Monday - I started my day excited, eager to start for the week. I first had an induction of the building (which I already knew quite well), led by Leon, and then went across the road to Galkangu to get my visitor pass for the week! I got a small tour of some parts of the building, which I really enjoyed, encountering a funny looking foil kangaroo with sunglasses. After the initial introduction and whatnot, I decided on my topic for the Ambedo blog- the topic I picked being ‘Birds of Bendigo!'

Tuesday - In the morning, I was still excited and refreshed from my full 8 hours of sleep and got right on writing my article. I do love birds, so I was eager to start. I spent most of my time in the morning researching and eventually took a break for lunch to eat my salad. (healthy. Yum!!) Afterwards, I decided to work on my art for the Ambedo magazine, which took up a large chunk of my time. During the time following that, I helped Jesse with preparation for the UV Resin workshop, doing a test run with some of the supplies. After I stopped that, I went right back to working on my article, going down a rabbit hole of common bird species around Bendigo.

Wednesday - The morning of Wednesday started sunny and nice, just the way I like it. After a few minutes, we left for Galkangu, and I got to sit in on a CPU meeting! When that was done, we went back to the YO Bendigo building, and I finished up on my beloved blog article. After that, I went with Katie to Galkangu, and met Greg Harris, which was very fun.

Thursday - During the morning, I was extremely ecstatic, because it was my birthday! I walked into the office, and started to work on my other article (the one you’re reading right now!) and eventually moved over to work on more of my art for the magazine. For lunch, we had fish and chips (for the 2nd time this week!) as my birthday lunch, which was amazing. After a long time of eating and talking, we all eventually went back to work, with me continuing to work on my art, and Leon helped me with my Resume!

Friday - I started my last day off as usual, arriving at the YO office and starting up my computer to do my work, and check everything. Nothing much else happened, as it was a relatively calm day. Although after i did more artwork, me and Jesse decided to go to The Cryptorium to do an interview! We got a few drinks (which were really good) and i got a vanilla shake. After getting back and doing a few last pieces of work, we went and got lunch from schnitz. That was my week at YO Bendigo!
