Our End of Year Celebrations

By Chelsea Hill, 06 December, 2024

On Tuesday, December 3rd, volunteers and friends of YO Bendigo gathered for our Disco themed end-of-year party to mark an incredible 2024!

With 30 people in attendance, we took a moment to honour the outstanding work done by our young volunteers, highlighting a year packed with achievements and memories.

Deputy Youth Mayors, Levity Camilleri and Sean Cox were engaging MCs for the night, inviting Lilly Correll (Youth Mayor), Connor Findlay (Ambedo Editor) and Moon Vincent (YO Events representative) to share some highlights and acknowledge the accomplishments of all the volunteers of each program.

"I congratulate you all for spending hours improving the lives of young people in our city. Through your efforts, young people have a voice and are part of the very events they attend and the magazines they read. Thank you for being such a wonderful team to work with throughout my four years here at the City. Thank you for the opportunity to get to know each and every one of you. I look forward to keeping in touch, and I know that for all of you — Youth Councillors and all YO volunteers— your futures are very bright." -Youth Mayor, Lilly Correll

To add to the excitement, we had an impromptu mini disco dance competition that got everyone on their feet and moving! The honorary guest judge, Haylee Kennedy, picked out three lucky winners for the Best Dressed. Congratulations to all the winners!

The Kris Kringle was a huge hit, with everyone eager to see what surprises they’d receive. Whether it was a cuddly teddy bear, a box of chocolates, fun games, or quirky gadgets, there was a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Once the official proceedings wrapped up, the night was far from over. We dug into a delicious pizza dinner and enjoyed a variety of activities that kept the fun going: board games, arts and crafts, video games, karaoke, dancing, and just hanging out with friends. It was a night of fun, laughter, and good vibes, and the perfect way to close out 2024.

From the team at YO Bendigo, a massive thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year. We can’t wait to share an even bigger and brighter 2025, full of new adventures, opportunities, and moments to remember!
