Barista Workshop - March

By Jesse Munzel, 28 July, 2023

YO Bendigo Barista Workshop

– Build Skills, Gain Confidence, Get Job‑Ready!

If you're 12–25 and keen to learn how to make café‑quality coffee, our Barista Workshop is the perfect place to start. In this hands‑on, practical session, you’ll get behind a real coffee machine, try out professional equipment, and learn the essential skills baristas use every day. Whether you’re thinking about a job in hospitality, want to boost your résumé, or are simply curious about how your favourite coffee is made, this workshop will give you the confidence to get started.

This workshop is part of YO Bendigo’s Level Up – YO Skills program, which helps young people build practical skills and confidence while preparing for real job opportunities. Through hands‑on training like this barista session, YO Skills supports you to gain experience, learn industry basics, and take positive steps toward employment, education, and community involvement.

What You’ll Learn

• How to make a great coffee (including a little bit about foam art)
• How to steam milk for coffees like lattes and cappuccinos
• How to use common barista equipment and what each part does
• Common mistakes baristas make and how to fix them
• Practical tips to help you stand out when applying for hospo jobs

What the vibe will be like

  • Friendly youth workers available
  • Small supportive group
  • Hands‑on, relaxed, beginner‑friendly
  • Take it at your own pace, learning approach

Everything you need is provided — just bring yourself and a willingness to learn!
