Face Painting workshop - July
This hands‑on workshop offers young people the chance to learn the fundamentals of professional face painting in a supportive and creative environment. Whether you are interested in art, enjoy working with people, or are curious about developing a future side‑hustle, this session will give you both the confidence and practical skills to get started.
Face painting is a highly sought‑after skill for community events, markets, birthday parties, and festivals. This workshop provides an introduction to the techniques, tools, and industry practices used by professional face painters, while also offering the opportunity to meet other young creatives in Bendigo.
What the Workshop Covers
Live Demonstrations & Core Techniques
The facilitator will demonstrate multiple designs in real time, showing key techniques such as blending, line work, brush control, and layering. Participants will be taught three popular designs: tiger, butterfly/rainbow/floral, and mask styles.
Hands-On Practice & Creative Exploration
Young people will practise techniques on each other, ask questions about challenges like weather conditions, and finish with a free paint session where they create their own designs with support from the facilitator.
Step-by-Step Skill Building
The workshop includes:
- An overview of completed designs and the approach behind them
- Opportunities to practise techniques on each other (in addition to designing templates if you would not like to paint on)
- Space to choose designs you personally enjoy and want to master, and practise them as part of a free-expression paint time at the end.
- A question-and-answer section covering technique challenges, including environmental factors such as humidity and outdoor conditions
What to Bring
- Ideas or pictures of face‑painting designs you like
- Clothing you don’t mind getting a small amount of paint on
- A willingness to be painted – participants will paint each other
- An open mind and interest in learning new techniques
All materials, including paints and brushes, will be supplied by YO Bendigo.
Angie is a Bendigo‑based face painting artist who turned her passion into Scribbles Face Painting in 2019. Through this workshop, she’ll guide young people through face‑painting basics, creative design, and the professional skills she uses in her own business, from brush techniques to working with colours, themes, and event‑ready designs.
With her warm, encouraging style, Angie creates a fun and inclusive space where young people can learn new skills, build confidence, and turn their creativity into art.

You’ll get support to run your workshop, materials provided, and yes—you’ll get PAID for delivering it.
