Mini Skateboard Design workshop

By Jesse Munzel, 30 August, 2023

Get ready to socialise, express yourself, and create something truly unique!

In this hands‑on workshop, you’ll design and paint your very own mini skateboard deck from start to finish. Whether you’re into bold colours, detailed illustrations, skate culture, or just love experimenting, this session gives you the freedom to explore your creativity in a relaxed, supportive environment.

You’ll spend the afternoon hanging out with other young people, sharing ideas, chatting, laughing, and helping each other bring your designs to life. No experience is needed—just come along, give it a go, and enjoy the process of creating something that’s completely your own.

This workshop supports the aims of YOConnect by giving young people the chance to:

  • Meet new people and build social confidence in a friendly, welcoming space
  • Work alongside others creatively, learning from each other and sharing inspiration
  • Try a new hands‑on activity that encourages self‑expression and imagination
  • Strengthen connections with peers through shared creative experiences
  • Grow confidence by completing and taking home a personalised mini deck you designed yourself

What to Expect

  • A friendly, social environment where you can meet new people
  • An easy, guided introduction to designing and painting a mini skateboard deck
  • Time to experiment, explore colours, test ideas, and develop your own artistic style
  • Support from facilitators as you create your final design
  • A fully finished mini skateboard deck to take home and display proudly
  • Plenty of laughs, conversation, creativity, and connection along the way

What to Bring

All materials are provided—you just need to bring:

  • Old clothes (it might get messy!)
  • A hair tie, if you need one
  • Your ideas and inspiration

Keen to start designing early? A printable template is available below so you can map out your artwork ahead of time and bring it along to transfer onto your board.

Whether you're into skate culture, art, or simply want to try something new, this workshop is a great opportunity to be creative, build friendships, and walk away with something unique that you designed.

Come along, get creative, and connect!
