Neon Drawing Workshop is a relaxed, hands-on creative session designed for young people interested in exploring art through bright colours, glowing effects, and bold designs. The workshop offers a fun, welcoming space to experiment with neon markers and materials, learn new techniques, and enjoy a chilled crafternoon with snacks and supportive guidance. No previous experience is required, and all materials are provided. This workshop is a great opportunity to connect with others, unwind, and create a vibrant artwork to take home. 

Whether it’s colourful, quirky, eye-catching, or completely unique. Come along, get creative, and leave with a neon masterpiece that’s handmade, personal, and unmistakably yours.

What to Expect

Participants will begin with a guided activity, learning simple neon drawing techniques with the assistance of our facilitator. This introductory project is designed to build confidence and teach creative skills suitable for beginners. After completing the guided piece, participants can move on to developing their own ideas, creating an original neon artwork inspired by their interests and imagination. Facilitators will provide hands-on support, technical advice, and inspiration materials throughout the session. So, if you have an idea but aren't sure where to start or how to bring it to life, our facilitator will be there to guide you through each step.

The workshop is designed to offer:

• A calm and welcoming atmosphere with low music playing, with a small room available if participants need a break at any time
• A social environment where young people can connect with peers
• A relaxed creative session with music, conversation, and plenty of time to experiment with colours, designs, and glowing effects

All equipment and materials will be supplied, including:

• Neon markers and drawing materials
• Inspiration resources and design ideas
• Snacks and water to keep the creative energy up

Through the Australian Government Department of Social Services SARC Grant, we can cover the full cost of tickets for young people who meet the eligibility criteria of being aged 12-18 years. To receive the discount code related to this waiver, simply complete the referral form linked "here". 

Our Facility & Policies

Our Facility: YO Bendigo is a dedicated youth hub located at 41-43 Mundy St. Our facility has 2 all-gender toilets. Our kitchen has a fridge, urn and other appliances available for use.

Accessibility: We are on Level 2. There is an elevator available for use. There are some stairs within our facility. There is an accessible all-gender toilet downstairs that will require a code that can be provided by our staff.

Please be patience with us as we develop an Accessibility Guide for this new facility. This will be available shortly. In the meantime, our staff are available to discuss accessibility options to ensure everyone is able to participate in our programs. 

Ensuring everyone can participate is important to us. If you have any additional needs or requirements, our staff are here to help to ensure all programs and activities are available for everyone to participate fully. 

Child Safety: YO Bendigo is a child-safe organisation and committed to ensuring that all our programs, events and activities are safe, welcoming and inclusive for young people under 18.

Supervision: All YO Bendigo programs and activities are fully supervised by trained staff. This means that while participating in our programs and activities, young people will be supervised however, our staff are unable to prevent young people from leaving voluntarily and cannot maintain duty of care once young people leave. Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend with their child at all programs and activities. All participants are expected to be picked up on time especially for after-hours programs and activities.
