Youth Music Production workshop

Learn Song Writing, Performing & Recording Workshop

Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your sound, this hands-on workshop, led by a professional facilitator from The Push will help you unlock your creativity and take your music to the next level. Designed to take you through the entire process — from writing your first lyrics to collaborating with others, enhancing your performance skills, and walking into the recording studio with confidence.
 

What you will learn:

  • Song Structures: Understand the framework behind successful songs and how to build structures that captivate listeners.

  • Key Elements of Songwriting: Dive into the essential components of songwriting, including melody, lyrics, rhythm, and harmony.

  • Overcoming Writer's Block: Learn effective techniques to break through creative barriers and keep your songwriting process flowing.

  • Collaboration: Discover how to collaborate with fellow artists, producers, and musicians to enrich your work and expand your creative horizons.

  • Performance Techniques: Enhance your stage presence and learn how to connect with your audience through engaging and impactful performances.

  • Studio Preparation: Gain valuable insights into what to expect in a recording studio, how to prepare for your session, and tips for making the most of your time.

This course is open to young people aged 12 to 25.

Get to know the Facilitator:
Tom Nethersole (He/Him)
Tom is an up-and-coming queer pop artist whose music captures the thrilling, raw, and vulnerable moments that define our lives which has seen him featured on Channel 7's 2023 reboot of Australian Idol and performing in Federation Square at Always Live GarageBand 2023, at the 2024 Vic Pride Street Party and at his first ever headline show to kick off 2024 along with a number of other appearances.
