Youth Council 2024 Goals Statement
The City of Greater Bendigo Youth Council has developed a Goals Statement that reflects their aspirations and what they hope to achieve in 2024.
2024 Goals
- All Youth Council submissions or letters of recommendation/support are of a high quality.
- Youth Council initiates its own submissions when appropriate, and actively advocates to Council on issues important to young people including but not limited to public safety, young people with a disability, and youth homelessness.
- Youth Council encourages young people to make submissions on City projects via Let’s Talk including but not limited to the City’s budget.
- Youth Council promotes the Mission Australia Youth Survey and aims to generate enough local responses to receive a Greater Bendigo report.
- Youth Council achieves quorum at every briefing and meeting.
- Youth Council Working Groups develop and present at least one proposal to Youth Council each in 2024.
- All Youth Councillors are active, professional, and respectful participants in briefings and meetings.
- When appropriate, individual Youth Councillors are members of City advisory committees as Youth Council representatives.
- When appropriate, individual Youth Councillors are members of external committees of management as Youth Council representatives.
- When appropriate, individual Youth Councillors attend City events and/or speak at events.
- Youth Council opens two meetings to invited observers in 2024: The Special Youth Council Meeting in February and the September Meeting for Youth Fest (Try before you buy).
- When appropriate, individual Youth Councillors attend Ordinary Council Meetings.
- Youth Council provides effective governance of the implementation of the Youth Action Plan 2023-2024.
- Youth Councillors play an active role in the City of Greater Bendigo Youth Awards.
- Youth Councillors play an active role in the proposed Youth Council Regional and Rural Forum if implemented in 2024.
- A majority of Youth Councillors attend joint Council and Youth Council meetings.
- All Youth Councillors are professional when representing the City.
- All Youth Councillors adhere to the City’s code of conduct and values: We Lead, We Learn, We Contribute, We Care, We Respond, and We Respect.
- Experienced Youth Councillors actively engage with newer Youth Councillors to support their development and participation via Buddy Groups and individual efforts.
